April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month. With the weather (hopefully) getting warmer, you and your pets will most likely be spending more time outside. Whether you are taking your pet to a dog park, a campsite, or just your backyard, accidents can still happen and it is good to be prepared. Preparing a first aid kit can be helpful in times of need. Your first aid kit can include: cotton swabs, adhesive tape, antiseptic wipes, scissors, tweezers, a thermometer, and antibiotic ointment. Learning basic life-saving skills such as CPR and wound treatment can be helpful as well. Another way to be prepared for an emergency situation is to always keep the contact information for your veterinarian, poison control, and the nearest 24-hour hospitals nearby.
April 11th is National Pet Day. Every day is pet day for most of us but this day specifically is to honor our pets and to remind us of all of the other animals in need of loving homes.
April 19th - April 26th is Veterinary Receptionist Week. As the first and last point of contact at your pets’ appointments, veterinary receptionists are a vital part of any hospital’s team, including ours. This observance was created to show appreciate for everything that all client representatives do.
Pet of the Month: Last but certainly not least, this section will be used to highlight a new pet every month that has made an impact on our office. This month, we are shining a spotlight on a puppy that you may have seen recently walking around our office: Willy! A five-month-old German Shepherd-Terrier Mix, Willy loves to snuggle under blankets and give lots of kisses. But don’t let those big ears fool you- he only listens when he wants to!
