Welcome to our October 2026 Newsletter! With the spooky season upon us, it is important to prevent a fright by learning more about preventative care. Please read on to discover this month’s happenings and we hope you enjoy!

  • October is National Pet Wellness Month, created to serve as an annual reminder to prioritize preventative veterinary care and promote the importance of routine wellness exams. Yearly exams and routine bloodwork allow veterinarians to catch subtle signs of chronic illnesses, dental disease, and joint issues long before outward symptoms appear. Exams also act as a checkpoint to update essential preventative measures such as vaccines and parasite control for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. By bringing your pets to see the doctor at least once a year, the doctor can also evaluate your pets’ weight, dietary requirements, and overall physical and emotional health.

  • October 4th is World Animal Day, celebrated as a day of action to make the world a better place for animals everywhere. This year’s theme is “See the World Through Their Eyes” to encourage people to consider animals’ well-being when making decisions regarding the environment.

  • October 18th-24th is Veterinary Technician Week. Veterinary technicians are critical to the day-to-day functioning of animal clinics. We thank our technicians here at 4 Paws for constantly providing exceptional support to our doctors and pet parents!

  • October 31st is Halloween! While All Hallows’ Eve gives us treats and tricks at every corner, it may end up being a nightmare for some pets and their owners. Please make sure your pets stay safe this holiday by storing candy out of reach, decorating wisely, and keeping skittish animals calm.

  • Pet of the Month: This month, we are shining a light on Bubbles, one of our receptionist Desiree’s two-year-old cats. Despite being young, Bubbles has already been through a lot; she came from a hoarding situation in which over 100 cats were found in deplorable conditions. Now, she is living her best life with her sisters, Blossom and Buttercup!
